Our story is a legacy of local service
Family owned and operated since 1981
For over four decades, TCR Towing & Recovery has been the go-to source for reliable and professional towing and recovery services in the West Georgia and East Alabama regions. TCR is the only company in West Georgia to receive the Towing and Recovery Incentive Program (TRIP) certification by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and partners with all local municipalities. As a family owned and operated business since 1981, we’re committed to serving our community with friendly, professional service, 24/7.

Tommy Ray
Founder
In 1981, Tommy Ray and his wife Patricia established TCR in downtown Bremen, GA with the purchase of a small 76 service station. Starting with a single one-ton wrecker, he quickly grew the fleet by adding a second one-ton by 1982 and heavy recovery capabilities with the purchase of Holmes 600 wreckers by 1984. In 1985, he brought the first rollback truck to Haralson County. When the business outgrew the station, Tommy sold it in 1989 and moved the towing and recovery business to its current location. Tommy personally built the current shop, and it remains part of the structure today.
Around 2000, Tommy considered leaving the industry, having briefly sold his wreckers. However, he made a decisive return a year later to commit solely to towing and recovery. Leveraging his over-the-road trucking rights in 48 states, the modern era of TCR launched in 2001 with the purchase of a 35-ton hydraulic wrecker.
Growth was then strategic and rapid with the opening of locations in Carrollton and Heflin, the acquisition of Jim Davis Wrecker in Tallapoosa, and the purchase of the company’s first rotator. The expansion of I-20 and influx of people moving to West Georgia bolstered the growth. In 2006, TCR partnered with AAA to service 800 square miles and in 2015 became one of the first towing and recovery companies to join the GDOT Towing and Recovery Incentive Program (TRIP) in the West Georgia region.
Today, TCR operates 35 trucks, employs 27 people, and proudly serves 12 municipalities. Tommy’s vision is to maintain this legacy while continuing a transition of leadership to T.C.
Tommy enjoys farming, deer hunting, fishing, building square body trucks, and enjoying his hotrod collection, which includes a ’62 Impala, ’71 Nova, and ’67 Chevelle.
T.C. Ray
Vice President of Operations
Born in 1988, T.C. Ray’s life has been intrinsically linked to the family business since childhood. Despite his parents, Tommy and Patricia Ray, attempting to send him to the nursery nearby, T.C. would often find a way to escape and return to the shop. His passion for the industry was cemented early on with a vivid memory from 5th or 6th grade of his father, Tommy, checking him out of school to purchase a new wrecker.
T.C. began working at the shop throughout high school, driving a rollback truck since the age of 17, and joined the company full-time in 2009. His commitment to elevating his skillset led him to get his CDL in 2016 and begin driving heavy wreckers. In 2018, he acquired a second rotator, significantly expanding the company’s capabilities, and became the primary operator. He now oversees all company operations.
Outside of TCR, T.C. is an accomplished musician. When his parents were often tied up at work, he wandered into the Bremen High School band room, picked up the drums, and later played in the marching band in both high school and at JSU. Today, he plays guitar in the band, Homegrown.
T.C. is focused on the future, with goals to keep growing and expanding the business, to make processes more efficient, and to maintain a seamless operation. He married his wife, Keri, in 2024.
In his free time, T.C. enjoys farming and tending to his cows, traveling, and playing anything with strings.
Patricia Ray
Co-Founder (in memoriam)
Patricia Ray was the co-founder and driving force behind the business operations of TCR Towing and Recovery. After marrying Tommy in 1974, they purchased the 76 service station in 1981, the official launch of TCR. A sharp business mind, Patricia left her role as a bank branch manager in 1989 to become TCR’s full-time bookkeeper, quickly taking charge of the entire office. She and Tommy formed an invaluable team—Patricia managing the office and business growth, while Tommy oversaw the shop and trucks. In September of 2024, Patricia passed away, but her legacy of business acumen, hard work, and dedication continues to inspire the TCR team. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, and time spent on Lake Wedowee.
Kim Taylor
Office Manager
Kim Taylor’s commitment and financial expertise have been instrumental in the success and operation of TCR Towing and Recovery. She originally joined TCR in 2016 when Patricia sought a bookkeeper to help manage the office and support T.C. in running the business. Having previously worked in the towing industry at Jennings from 1993 to 1999, and her subsequent 16 years at John Deere, Kim brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team.
She quickly took on additional responsibilities, often being commended by Tommy and T.C. on her expertise and devotion to the business and customers. Her unwavering dedication is not only to the internal workings of the business but, more importantly, to ensuring every customer interaction is smooth, positive, and professional. Her commitment is recognized as a cornerstone of the company’s operational success and positive reputation.
Kim enjoys spending time with her granddaughter and family and gathering with her Bible study class.
